I’ve never been a huge lover of the beach, but living in VIRGINIA BEACH I felt like this is something that I need to get over. When I moved here last month I said my main goal was to become a beach person… well after enjoying this sunrise on the water I think it’s safe to say that I am officially a beach person. I could still do without the sand that gets everywhere… but that’s a small price to pay for these amazing photo opportunities.
The beach was JUST what we needed on this particular morning and it wasn’t even planned. For some reason Tony and I just couldn’t sleep, so instead of rolling over and readjusting in bed for the millionth time that night… we just got up. We drove to the beach in total darkness and used our cell phone flashlights to guide us along the pathway to the shore. We waited as the sun slowly rose over the water, we walked along the edge where the waves hit the dry sand and just breathed in the fresh salt air. It was genuinely the first time that either of us have ENJOYED salty air and sandy toes. It was like a switch went off for both of us. And yeah it totally helped that before long about 50 dogs were running up and down the shore, chasing sticks into the water and going for their morning strolls with their owners. We kinda love dogs and we’re big time aspirational dog owners.
PS: We’ll be opening a print shop soon where you can purchase prints of these and other similar images. Make sure you’re following us on Instagram and Facebook to see the announcement of that!
