Fantasyland Anniversary Session | Magic Kingdom Photographer

The amount of sentimental value in these images is unreal!

Missy & Casey have been married for 19 years. NINETEEN! We met up at the Magic Kingdom on their actual wedding anniversary, how sweet and perfect is that!? They are Disney Annual Passholders who travel all the way from Ohio for family vacations with their teenage son and vlog their adventures on their family youtube channel. It’s Missy & Casey’s tradition to ride Dumbo together. How adorable is that!? As soon as she told me this, I knew we had to make Dumbo a big central theme of their session! But here’s where things get interesting…

Disney is CRAZY busy in the summertime! Like seriously, it’s not an ideal time to go. The parks are hot, crowded beyond belief, and it’s tough to actually get on any of the rides without waiting 30+ minutes. Well, thank goodness Disney has a thing called Fastpass+ which is basically a reservation for a ride! So weeks ahead of our session, we all logged onto the Disney website and made reservations to ride Dumbo together. So! The night of our session we met on Main Street under some seriously gloomy skies! We knew we would be facing a time crunch with a possible storm coming in, so we hustled over the the castle for those iconic images and then it was onto Storybook Circus, where we were ready to take some amazing photos of them soaring on Dumbo! Cue the happy tears and cheers here!

Not so fast. We noticed it was super quiet in this generally buzzing section of Magic Kingdom and then quickly realized that Dumbo was not flying! I walked up to a sweet cast member and they informed me that there were lightning strikes just a few miles from the park, so all outdoor rides were closed. Ugh! Gut punch! Well, we decided to roll with it and look on the bright side. We were now able to take some photos of these sweethearts with nobody in the background, which honestly wouldn’t have otherwise happened with how busy the park was that day!

Before long the storm moved along and we were able to ride Dumbo! It was getting pretty dark at this point, so I really had to bump that ISO but goodness gracious it was well worth it! Look how happy these two are! Especially Missy: with her favorite person, on her favorite ride, at the happiest place on earth! You just can’t beat those genuine smiles and laughs!
